New York City Looks

I’m in a New York state of mind!

Yes, Billy Joel said it best – New York City really is the best place on earth. And I’m going there in just two weeks! My trip will be full of sightseeing, shopping; I’m even taking a course at the Fashion Institute of Technology to further my fashion dreams. And of course, because NYC is the style headquarters, I must have amazing outfits to parade around Times Square in. I’ve put together some looks that I definitely will sport during my trip, and hopefully it will give you inspiration to incorporate a New York vibe into your everyday looks.

Sight Seeing

While I’m on vacation, I always try to play around with different looks. This bohemian-inspired dress is perfect to walk the city in while still keeping cool, and the bag and shoes are easy but still trendy. To add some New York-chic, I paired the look with tribal-meets-urban earrings that lend interest to the look.

If there was ever a look that personified NYC perfectly, it would be this one. I love the stripes of floral and mesh on the boxy silhouette, and those shoes are edgy without being over-the-top. Although, I wouldn’t recommend walk more than a few blocks with them! Clutches can often be a hassle to keep up with, so look for one with an attachable shoulder chain. Of course, any look that I create isn’t complete without a statement necklace, and this one is downtown grungy, yet uptown chic all at the same time.

High-End Shopping

If I have learned anything through my extensive amount of shopping trips, it’s that sales people tend to take you more seriously if you look put together and expensive. Although this outfit looks like you spent a lot of time on it, it’s really just a t-shirt and jeans. I’m loving pastel blue this season, so I decided to incorporate it into these luxurious stilettos. Crossbody bags are so easy to for shopping, and this one from Celine is especially gorgeous. And again with the statement necklace!

When you plan outfits for vacation, try to reuse pieces for different looks. For example, you can pack one pair of boyfriend jeans, a statement necklace, and a boxy top to make two very different looks. I always try to travel light because I know I’ll be coming home with the treasures I find shopping. Be on the lookout for more NYC posts, and maybe even some outfit of the days? Wherever the summer takes you, make sure you look chic!
