Most often, sheer material is associated with one of two scenarios – reserved for more scandalous occasions, or tastefully worn in warmer months. When styled gracefully, sheer fabric lends its sensual hand to any outfit, whether a peek of skin or full-on sheer sleeves. If it’s such a versatile detail, why is it confined to spring and summer fashion?
Although it seems to be an oxymoron in terms of warmth and wearability, sheer can be transitioned into winter outfits quite easily. You just have to keep the rest of your outfit warm so you won’t freeze while you “walk in a winter wonderland.” See what I did there? I prefer to shop for sheer material that feels and looks expensive, even if it’s not. Plainly said, the goal is to not look like a hooker.
Feeling stuck in how to style sheer? Lucky for you, I’ve got you covered.
I based this look around the sheer sleeves of this gorgeous French Connection top. To counterbalance the top, I added some cuffed boyfriend jeans and adorable floral print pointy-toed shoes. Because the top is a neutral tone, I added a jeweled necklace in the same color for fun detail. If the weather permits, I think this oversized, soft pink coat would look so elegant draped over the shoulders. Lastly, I finished off the look with lux black accessories.
This outfit is for a warmer winter night, if there is such a thing. I love how this skirt has sheer paneling on the legs. I added a butterfly-sleeve sweater and black ankle booties. If it’s chilly, add some black tights or black knee socks. The chunky earrings and red bag accentuate the lavish feel of the skirt, and this large motorcycle jacket looks effortless with the leather booties. And of course, a fedora completes the ensemble.
